Volunteering

Volunteering for 2026/27

Volunteers are essential to the operation of the Okotoks Skating Club. Hundreds of hours go into running the club, and all members and families are encouraged to volunteer their time.

This season, each family with a skater registered in Pre-Junior or StarSkate will be required to pay a $200 volunteer bond at the time of registration.

Volunteer requirements are based on the number of sessions registered per week and change each year depending on the planned events. The requirements for the 2026-2027 season are:

  • Families with a skater registered in 3 or more sessions per week are required to complete 20 volunteer credits.

  • Families with a skater registered in fewer than 3 sessions per week are required to complete 10 volunteer credits.

  • All Pre-Junior and StarSkate families will be required to provide volunteers for the Year-End Ice Show, plus either the Casino Fundraiser or the OSC Winter Classic Star 1–3 Event.

Volunteer at Our OSC Casino Fundraiser!

Our next OSC Casino Fundraiser is November 19 & 20, 2026, and we need your help!

Our casino fundraiser is only offered to us once every 2–3 years, making it a particularly important fundraising opportunity for our club. It’s our only major fundraising event, and the funds raised help support our programs and keep costs down for our skating families.

We need to fill 40 volunteer positions, plus backup roles. A variety of shifts are available, so take a look at the available options and sign up for a shift that works for you!

Join us to volunteer for the Used Dress & OSC Apparel Sale!

We’re looking for a friendly volunteer to help run our Dress Sale on Friday, October 2, from 5–7 PM.

As our volunteer, you’ll:

  • Schedule convenient drop-off times for gently used skating gear, including dresses, jackets, skates, and apparel. 

  • Help label items so they’re ready for sale.

  • Be on hand during the sale to keep things running smoothly.

  • Help clean-up post event and wrap up any loose ends.

Join the Okotoks Winter Classic Committee!

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help plan and organize our annual Star 1–3 Event, the Okotoks Winter Classic, happening at ORC on Sunday, November 29.

As a member of the committee, you’ll:

  • Attend 1–3 planning meetings leading up to the event.

  • Coordinate logistics with our organizing committee members. 

  • Lead or assist with décor, sponsorships, raffles, or bring new ideas to make the event memorable.

  • Bring your ideas and other creative contributions to make this a fun and exciting event for all skaters, coaches, and families!

Available Board & Committee Positions

 

For the 2026/27 season, OSC will need volunteers for several committee roles and tasks, including:

  • ICE SHOW COMMITTEE - We will need A LOT of volunteers to help with this. If you are interested, get started right away to have your volunteer credits covered early.
